Summer is here and it’s time to head outside and enjoy this wonderful weather. Summer is the time for adventure and travel, so moms want to be prepared with the items they need to enjoy family time. You already know the basics to a diaper bag: diapers, wipes, change of clothes, etc. But trust me, you need to arm the diaper bag with all of the items for the “what if” moments.
For summer, some people switch up their hair color, their shoes, their cell phone covers, but for parents, what about switching up the items in your diaper bag? Here are 5 items to be sure to have in your diaper bag this summer.
In order to avoid excessive sun exposure, cover up. This will help prevent skin irritation. Children also tend to have finer hair which can mean more sun exposure on their scalp, face and neck. Pack a hat to protect the face when you are outside for long periods of time.
4) Hydrating snacks
Young ones can get hungry, especially if they’ve been playing for a long time. Keep them hydrated during the warm weather with great hydrating snacks, such as watermelon, apples, or celery. You can store them in a separate cooler or with an ice pack. Speaking of hydration…
3) Water Bottle
A reusable water bottle is a must. Milk or juice can spoil but water will keep. You can pour water in and freeze it if you know you will be out for a long time.
2) Jacket or sweater
Even with the warm weather, cold or inclement weather can happen suddenly. I learned this the hard way. We were out all day and then decided to watch a movie to cool down. Well the family was dressed in summer clothes and when we went into the theater, it was freezing! Luck favors the prepared.
As some of you may know, Jr has eczema and also very sensitive, fair skin. So I take extra measure to provide him the best in sun protection. The summer heat causes sweating and heat irritation which can flare up his eczema. Did you know, sunburns during childhood increase the odds of developing skin cancer later in life? I love that Neutrogena makes that are effective yet affordable.
Sunscreen is a must when you are outside whether for 15 minutes or for 5 hours you must not only wear sunscreen but reapply it frequently. Those that suffer from eczema should look for a product that has received the National Eczema Association (NEA)Seal of Acceptance such as the following.
NEUTROGENA® Pure & Free® Baby Faces Ultra Gentle Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45+
NEUTROGENA® Pure & Free® Baby Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ NEUTORGENA® Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ NEUTROGENA® Pure & Free™ Liquid Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50.
Neutrogena is providing adults and babies with eczema and sensitive skin (like my little one) a safe sunscreen option that protects using naturally sourced sunscreen ingredients. Neutrogena Sun Care products are available through Walmart both in-store and online.
