When the alarm goes off on my phone, it’s time to spring into action. By “spring”, I mean move slowly while being half-awake. As a working mom, it’s tough to not only get myself ready but then get my son ready for our day. Any good mom would put their child first which is what I do. His clothes make him look like a toddler model, his teeth are nice and brushed, his lunch has a balance of protein, fruit and veggies, and his hair is perfectly coiffed. Then before I know it, we only have 5 minutes to leave the house, and I still look like an extra from a zombie movie.

Then one day, I noticed another mom dropping off her daughter at daycare. She was active duty military in uniform with her hair looking fabulous, and her kid looking equally as posh. I told myself, “if she could do it, why can’t I?”

Something had to change, so recently I’ve been using some tips from Suave to achieve an easy but polished hairstyles for the work day. I modeled my hair after the regulation hairstyles active duty women wear. Their hairstyles are super quick to do and are meant to hold up in the toughest of conditions. Best yet, they look stylish as well. It’s easy, quick, and absolutely chic.

Here are some tips to start with before you get started with these styles:

Easy Hairstyle Tips to Live By for Busy Moms

 1) Shower at night.
I use Sea Mineral Infusion Body Shampoo and Conditioner because it gives your hair tons of body, making it super easy to style the next morning. My updos are easier to style with my hair is not freshly washed. I have long thick hair so it can take a while to wash thoroughly. I can save that extra time by washing my hair at night (if I didn’t sweat a lot or cook with something stinky that night). This saves me at least 5-10 minutes in the morning and every second counts!

2) Invest in quality, not quantity.
This mean I don’t wash my hair everyday. When I do wash my hair, I invest in quality product that are affordable such as Suave® haircare products. It doesn’t matter if you’re active duty or civilian, Suave® help your hairstyles with the right products that work as well as salon brands.  Speaking of Suave®, they are enlisting the help of both military families and every day civilians to join the celebration and share military-inspired looks on social media using #ShareBeauty. Service members and military spouses, be sure to wear your military-inspired hairstyle on Veteran’s Day, and share it using the hashtag #ShareBeauty

3) Rock a sock bun!
Female service members can’t have their hair touching the shoulder part of their uniform, which is why most of them either have short hair or wear an updo. Well for a busy mom like myself, an updo also tends to stay out of my way, and my toddler can’t get his sticky hands into it.The easiest way I wear an updo is with the help of an old sock, an elastic band, and some bobby pins. I then mist my hair with Suave Professionals® Luxe Style Infusion Anti-Humidity Spray to keep my hair frizz-free for up to 72 hours.
